Professor Gerard Conway

Professor Gerard Conway was Clinical Lead in Endocrinology during his years as endocrinologist at the Middlesex and then University College London Hospitals between 1989 and 2019. He continues to take rounds at UCLH and maintains a private clinical service at London Lauriston Clinic. Professor Conway is also the Medical Director of the London Lauriston Clinic.

Professor Conway’s academic base is in the Institute for Women’s Health, University College London.  His research interests include the genetic origins of disorders of reproductive development and the long-term medical and psychosocial outcomes for related conditions. This research has formed the basis of over 250 academic publications including two books on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Professor Conway has been a member of European Working Groups for Premature Ovarian Insufficiency and for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.  For the Endocrine Society USA he was a guideline committee member for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and represented the British Endocrine Society on the International Guidelines for the Management of Turner Syndrome. For the International Olympics Committee, he was advisor on disorders of sex development in sports.
